I am surprised it took so long. Many of their individual congregations, apart from the mostly superficial debates over sexual identity and scripture, have long been activist and pro-gay, even asserting it as part of God's design. Never mind those verses which call it sin. The Methodists just ignore what the Old Bible teaches. It is not relevant to their own desired distinctives and the direction in which they prefer to go. It is always that way, isn't it? When a progressive church wishes to ignore what God's word plainly says, they will simply have one of their enlightened and smooth tongued theologians or respected Bishops write something that we can summarize as: "God did not say that." Or "God did not mean what He said about sexuality and homosexuality, about marriage, about gay unions. No. We simply, as Methodists, do not believe it. We will do things our way." Sound familiar? It should....It is Satan's argument and they lifted it out of his handbook.John Joseph Flanaganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06596324816480709495noreply@blogger.com
