The LCMS is a mess. I won't go so far as to question the sincerity of the pastors and members. They probably believe what they're doing is the right thing. But is it Lutheran? I don't think so. Why don't these LakePointe type churches just admit they aren't confessional Lutherans and move on. There are lots of other LINO churches which would join them. This is not a condemnation - just candor.

I live in the south. Why bother with a LakePointe when surrounded by evangelicals (e.g., Baptists, Evangelical Free) doing the exact same thing. And they're better at it.

I am one contemplating a return to the LCMS. But when I have to drive past several LCMS churches near my home in order to find something remotely Lutheran, I question whether I want to be part of such a disfunctional denomination. The LCMS is fractured. The confessional Lutherans and LINOS should meet, admit who they are, and find some amicable way to move on.

Sorry for the rant but these videos of "Lutheran" churches being Southern Baptists just set me off.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-43556597018839587282012-02-20T08:52:07.109-06:002012-02-20T08:52:07.109-06:00Missouri's problem is less with convention act...Missouri's problem is less with convention actions (though there are issues there, such as the use of non-ordained in Word and Sacrament ministry) but with the gradual erosion of what was once expected in the Divine Service

==========

Really?
