At no point in my church was the Pope even mentioned, much less referred to as a source of doctrine. Care to guess why? Because no matter how famous the Pope is, he's catholic and we're Lutheran. Like it or not, they're not the same. The latest interview seemed to focus on ending vatican control - but then, that was exactly why the college elected this particular pope, because there was corruption in the vatican and they wanted someone who would clean it out. Frankly, I think he knows exactly what he is doing. Everything he has said has been precisely in line with RCC doctrine.
