The church desperately needs a new Reformation.

"Where once people were captive to the voice of the priest and the words of the Mass, now they are captive to the voices of their own hearts."

This pretty much sums it up. Being captive to the voice of one's own heart is a greater captivity than anything external since our hearts are desperately deceitful and wicked. We can fool ourselves much more easily than others can fool us.

Congrats on getting IE Blog of the Week!Dawn Khttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04015045022304909372noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-59371832177879348992009-10-30T22:31:32.137-05:002009-10-30T22:31:32.137-05:00Congratulations for getting picked IE Blog of the ...Congratulations for getting picked IE Blog of the Week by Jeff Schwarz!Dan at Necessary Roughnesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16449576018918167898noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-60709122406509358342009-10-27T10:50:16.690-05:002009-10-27T10:50:16.690-05:00Well said -- thank you!

When I was in seminary, as a paper/project I tried writing a new creed/confession, the idea being to unite Christians around "sola scriptura".

I mention this not to say it was good or had any future -- just to share that it was *hard*! And that was without trying to incorporate other people's input.

So if any new confessions are forthcoming, it will be a heavy task that will require a lot of the Spirit's help.

You may, however, be interested in the confessions found at the bottom of this page ("The Eternal Word"):

http://www.celc.info/?wherewestand.phpJeff Samelsonhttp://www.christlutheran.netnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-46568524336519282012009-10-27T09:18:45.621-05:002009-10-27T09:18:45.621-05:00Such valuable insights compel sharing!

"Reformation" is now too often seen as a one time event by a bunch of old dead white guys fighting the Roman church and inapplicable to this day with our allegedly increased knowledge base and wisdom. Your clear vision that "Reformation" is never finished is fully synchronized with its definition: "Rescuing from error and returning to a rightful course". Error and rightful course cannot be identified without recapitulation to keep the fundamental truths intact and in use.

Please keep on with your "meanderings" - they are headed along the "rightful course".

SDGRandy Boschnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-44624186656657771222009-10-25T19:05:30.930-05:002009-10-25T19:05:30.930-05:00Pastor,

May God increase our faith, it seems like many "mustard seeds" of faith spread about our churches could serve our Lord well.

Thanks again for your faithful admonitions through this blog.Stevehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02977465696758179388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6329600504016968888.post-5486415233474291972009-10-25T19:01:02.632-05:002009-10-25T19:01:02.632-05:00Most excellently stated, my friend.
