Wouldn't It Be Great If...

The proposal of a new budget for the coming year engendered as much discussion about missions as it does about building maintenance and what needs or should be done about it...

People raised their hands and asked their parish leaders if this budget was enough for all that God had called us to do or maybe we need to do more...

The budget Q&A session went overtime because people could not stop talking about all the resources that God had supplied us a people and as a congregation and how much was expected of those to whom much was given...

The offering report did not have a discrepancy between needed and received -- at least not the ordinary kind of discrepancy you see in most bulletins but the other way around -- so much more received than was needed, that the Church Council had to find new places to do the Lord's bidding...

There was as much discussion in the church parking lot about how wonderful the hymns were as there was about how cold or hot it was where they sat in the Sanctuary...

There were so many people wanting to teach Sunday school that we had to actually head out to the highways and byways to find more children to keep those teacher's busy....

A positive band balance elicited comments about what we could/should do to use this money for ministry instead of talk of giving less since it seems the Church does not need as much money as first thought...

We did not focus on what was needed to get by but what was or is the best we can do and what we need to do because it is the Church....

Well, I can dream, can't it????
