This is the first year with all the Sunday’s after Epiphany since 2000, and it will be the last time it happens until 2038. So, this is the last time I will preach on the Wheat and Tares until I am old enough for Medicare. I guess it better be a pretty good sermon. So said the Forest Boar...
Now that set me a thinkin.... I know, I know, it can be scary when I get to thinkin... Here is a graph of the dates of Easter until 2100. In that year I would turn 146 so I am not going to worry much about that. There are only 11 Easters April 20 or later. Only two are as late as or later than this year (2038, 2095). Hmmm.
Easter in the West is the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon that occurs on or after March 21.

Assuming Christ does not return and spoil all the results of my postulating, there will be a lot of texts that will be heard only sparingly over the course of the next 89 years. I am not so worried because I figure once I hit the year 2054 I will be recycling the old manuscripts -- that is if I can still speak, read, or breathe.... Lord, give me something to do because the past five minutes of thinkin time have just about worn me out...
The comment quoted assumed the one-year lectionary. In the three-year lectionary, the Eighth Sunday after Epiphany (Feb. 25 - March 1) has the same readings as Proper 3 (May 24 - 28), so those are heard when Easter is really late (April 22 - 25, or April 21 in a leap year) or really early (March 22 - 26).
ReplyDeleteThere was more overlap planned in the lectionary out of Vatican II. The Lutherans put Transfiguration in as the last Sunday after Epiphany, leaving just one set of Sunday propers overlapping.
This is only somewhat related, but you might find it amusing. My younger brother was born on 4/11/62. Since his birth Easter fell on his birthday 4 times, each 11 years apart, and now there's a 62 year gap until the cycle starts over again.
ReplyDeleteI am one of God's roses, I was taken into this huge palace in the "sky" where I was met by Christ and God. GOD explained that he is the ultimate mathematician and that the next time it is the 28th March Easter (which is 2032)would be when Christ returns. By the way, I believe from what he said that Jesus was born on 28th October, if that helps you to validate this information. This happened many years ago and I have only told a select few. Strangely the "best christians" scoffed me. Even mor miraculous the security checking word below is "sotel" you can even check this with your internet people - how hilarious! God is gorgeous, his smile is radiant love and warmth, he is our heavenly Father. I do not need to be "public" I ask that you ask god for the truth and he will give you the answer now.
