President Obama on Wednesday endorsed same-sex marriages, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to take that position following days of speculation about his “evolving” stance on the issue.
The president used a hastily called TV interview to make his position clear. “At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally, it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Obama told ABC News....BUT WAIT… THERE’S MORE.
“This is something that, you know, [Michelle and I have] talked about over the years and she, you know, she feels the same way, she feels the same way that I do. And that is that, in the end the values that I care most deeply about and she cares most deeply about is how we treat other people and, you know, I, you know, we are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated…”
Or, why when we elect a President we are NOT electing a theologian in chief for our land... Obama certainly has the right to his own particular view on the subject of GLBT marriage but to cloak that in the Christian language of the atonement and then putting on par with the cross the "Golden Rule" is going too far...
It is all leftist media hype for George Clooney's $40K per plate Hollyweird fundraiser for Barry Soetoro, starting with fifth-column ABC's Robin "I get chills" Robert's puff interview with Steve Dunham.
ReplyDeleteThe only theology of interest to Zerobama, who had a composite (or was it inflatable?) girl-friend ghostwritten into his book, is that directed toward himself. As George Will accurately noted:
"If you struck from Barack Obama’s vocabulary the first-person singular pronoun, he would fall silent, which would be a mercy to us and a service to him, actually, because he was been so incontinent for the last three years that you wind up with, as you said, [an] Ohio State University with empty seats.”
President Obama is not a Christian.
ReplyDeleteHe is a Black-Muslim like his mentor
Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The Black-
Muslim religion preaches hate against
the white race and hopes to overthrow
the bonds of the white man.
Ya know, what was that, ya know, about, ya know, two posts back, ya know, about, ya know, shrinking, ya know, vocabulary?
ReplyDeleteIntersperse ya know with absolute balderdash, and you get B.O. speaking, ya know, off the cuff....
I'm not a fan of Obama, but from my perspective there are far more important issues than this one for the up-coming election. And as you cast your stones of righteous indignation, remember to save some your own house, too.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous (who posted on May 11, 2012 at 11:21am) is a Black-Muslim.
ReplyDeleteDoes that statement above make you a Black-Muslim? No. Why say the same thing about the President? If he was Muslim, why would he deny being such?
I don't see how this helps Obama. Gay marriage is not popular with voters. All of the 33 states that had referendums voted against gay marriage. The only major issue that is even less popular is immigration reform, which is opposed by a strong majority of Democrats and even more strongly by Independents and Republican voters.
ReplyDeleteIt is no wonder Obama had to create the silly contraception hubub because most Americans actually favor access to contraception. Of course, no Republicans oppose access, so it was lame to bring up the insurance angle against the few employers who don't want to provide it free.
