Chris, there was certainly a canon of scripture to which the Jews of the time and the Apostles constantly referred to. That canon obviously was not closed until later, but there certainly was a body of scripture that was agreed upon as the inspired word of God which the church saw as the normative rule of faith.
Our LCMS parishes need to offer in-depth Adult Bible Classes during the week. Some could he held in the morning or afternoon and others in the evening. A vibrant and healthy parish will be found when the members eagerly search the Scriptures together.
You are all idiots. Of course there were the Scriptures. But pray tell me when and where Jesus and the Apostles said anything close to "Back to the Bible." They were not Sola Scriptura Lutherans. Get over yourselves.
