News and Needs...

I spent some time talking with Joe Herl at Concordia-Seward and found out that Seward has two pipe organs for sale.  Give him a call if you are interested (an Aeolian Skinner rather nice and a Snyder-Neuman -- Nebraksa builder)... Joe can put you into a pipe organ reasonable... check with him...

I am always happy about the Concordias and their programs of church music.  SAD to admit that Concordia Bronxville no longer has a church music program.  SAD to find out that Seward (known for the likes of Charlie Ore and Dave Held and now Joe Herl among others) may soon be without a major pipe organ.  The chapel organ is in disrepair and their is not much interest on campus in either fixing it or replacing it with a pipe instrument.  So if you know of someone who is in favor of the liturgy and good church music (and has a few bucks) pass that name on to Joe Herl or do some PR work yourself.  Can you imagine a school of Synod teaching parish musicians and yet without a decent pipe organ in their chapel?????  Come on... people... lets see what we can do!

We need to do everything we can to keep church music a priority in our Synodical colleges...

You do realize that Seward DOES offer courses leading to a "certificate" in contemporary church music? It's not my alma mater any longer...

Like electing a banjo player to be synodical president.

Oh, for crying out loud! Pr Harrison's banjo playing is a *hobby* ;ust because he loves bluegrass music doesn't mean he's going to advocate for bluegrass mass.
