The Title Has It Right By Me

HT to Pr Thomas Messer at Abide in My Word... although I certainly would not want to credit him with this... well... stuff...  And they say all this conflict over contemporary worship and music is just a matter of taste...

It is much more Lutheran in German, much is lost in poor translations.

Whatever happened to being in the presence of the Lord means being in the presence of true holiness? Why is it that Christians, as a group, will defend to the death the honor due the national flag, but when it comes to Jesus, He's just our buddy?

Of course, listening to this, I immediately thought of my middle son. He'd be snickering and saying, "We're singing about puking..."

I thought this was a gag that someone produced (well...), so I did some research. You can buy it online from otherwise reputable Christian shops. One of the songs was about ketchup on apples, and the content was that God doesn't care about your weirdness, just that you love him. Only the first two verses were available, but that didn't stop me from making up a third verse... which probably should never leave my brain. The point is, I can substitute any behavior or practice, even one that God explicitly disapproves of, because God made me who I am and loves me all the same. (Oh, wait, shouldn't that be sin corrupted me, and grace shall set me free?)

A 7/11 chorus from the emergent church folks! Seven words, sung at least 11 times on an irreverent subject that is competely irrelevent to worship!!

With a little digging, I might be able to find the song about Snorting the Holy Ghost. That one might shock you a bit...
