Grab your pint glasses and phone your Fathers! Next Saturday, September 9, is International Buy a priest a beer day (Lutheran version, Buy a pastor a beer day)!
Some of the great Lutheran congregations in the Delaware Valley were supported by brewers and their funding. Ken Burns series on Prohibition showed the underlying prejudice against not only Catholics, but Lutherans as well, by the old b******** (biddies) of the Temperance movement.
But on occasion some Lutheran pastors have been known to imbibe a little too much causing some concern. À little beer now and then is O.K., but there are limits.
