We're just about two weeks away from our fifth annual
Henkel Conference, which aims to provide a forum of the best Christian
speakers on theology and culture for the encouragement of God's church
on earth. And we're elated to announce the additions of Carol Swain,

With a slight change to prior years, we're excited to
conclude the conference with a discussion on free speech with panelists
Mollie Hemingway, Scott Yenor, and Carol Swain and moderator Alex
Newman. We wish not only to host great speakers for the church's
edification, but also to offer a merry gathering; hence, we’ve once
again booked the best pizza joint in Nashville for dinner after the
opening day. A local Christian bookstore will be selling the works
of the speakers and other items during the conference.

Conferences like this are very important. And I would hope that a speaker or speakers might bring up the topics of abortion, euthanasia, and persecution. Abortions continue in America, even though methodology and medications change. The idea of self determination and euthanasia without restrictions is being whispered about by advocates of the practice. Lastly, persecution. During a recent weekend, there was largely an unpublished by mass media news report that 30 peaceful Nigerian Christians, 21 Catholics, the rest Protestants, were slain by Nigerian Muslims. The oldest killed, 87, the youngest 3. No one was spared in a small village, as the killers simply shot all, regardless of age or gender. Ten or eleven of the victims were children, mostly under 10 years old. It was reported that neither the Nigerian Army, nor the police in this region responded until the killings were done. They tend to delay their response until the bloodshed is done, and the perpetrators, cowardly and wicked, disappear back into the jungle. There are laws to protect Christians, but enforcement is lacking. The authorities have no will to defend helpless and peaceful Christians in that country. I sincerely hope that our government never gives aid or support while this Nigerian government still rules. Perhaps, there might be a word or too spoken at the upcoming conference about issues like this one. Do we not owe it to our courageous Christian brothers and sisters, impoverished, despised, and persecuted for their witness and their love of Christ? Soli Deo Gloria
