For the first time in history, Islamic prayers and readings from the
Quran will be heard at the Vatican on Sunday, in a move by Pope Francis
to usher in peace between Israelis and Palestinians. Francis
issued the invitation to Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian
Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit last week to Jordan,
Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.
I only hope that other folks are as scandalized by this as I am. This is ridiculous. Islam is not an equal faith to Christianity -- except in the strictly secular eyes of those religious freedom laws so noticeably absent in Islamic countries!! Why do we live the charade that somehow or other we pray to the same God in different ways? Why do we presume to give legitimacy in the hallowed halls of such an iconic Christian locale as the Vatican and St. Peter's? In my mind this is the worst kind of ecumenism and it portends grave political consequences for Islam with little benefit to Christian witness.

You were expecting something else from the Antichrist?!?
Excellent clarification on this. Calm down folks. Not that big of a deal.

The author of that article just doesn't get it, it is a big deal.
"Among the non Christian religions we recognize Islam and Judaism as having a special place"
Islam is just another way to hell except that it has a more violent history as an enemy of Christ's bride than many of its pagan companions on the road to hell.
"We recognize in the followers of other religions sincere searching for God."
as it is written, "THERE IS NONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE; THERE IS NONE WHO UNDERSTANDS, THERE IS NONE WHO SEEKS FOR GOD;
(Rom 3:10-11)
"Pope Francis’s invitation to pray with Mahmoud Abbas and Shimon Peres shows the openness that all Catholics should show to those of other religions.
How do you pray with someone who is not praying to the God who is there?
No one should be surprised. Rome apostasized hundreds of year ago and now World Orthodoxy had joined them in the same apostasy. The Church remains in the True Orthodox Church that has no communion with the apostates.
As far as I can see the only reason Islam is treated with kid gloves is that it is a threat. Their holy book is a sham, their religion is hate, and yet Christians still try to cut them some slack. I don't get it at all.
ISTM the Barque of Peter has become the Boat of Jonah
Even more frightening is the fact that most Roman Catholics are ignoring this latest attempt at ecumenism. Wouldn't this event qualify as a 2009 ELCA moment? Why aren't Roman Catholics bolting for the exits in droves?
Islam has not and will not change no matter now "nice" the "We all worship the same God" Christians are to Muslims.
But in not one Lutheran church will an imprecatory prayer be raised to God to destroy this wickedness which continues to attack Christ's church and murder Christians. And here "wickedness" includes both Mohammedanism and the Antichrist.
As Martin Luther stated in "On War against the Turk": "But as the pope is Antichrist, so the Turk is the very devil. The prayer of Christendom is against both. Both shall go down to hell, even though it may take the Last Day to send them there; and I hope it will not be long."
"Moreover, I hear it said that there are those in Germany who desire the coming of the Turk and his government, because they would rather be under the Turk than under the emperor or princes… For it is misery enough to be compelled to suffer the Turk as overlord and to endure his government; but willingly to put oneself under it, or to desire it, when one need not and is not compelled – the man who does that ought to be shown the sin he is committing and how terribly he is going on."
Today, Luther very probably would include the Demonicrat Party in his imprecation.
