1. Male offspring of the royal couple no longer to have precedence over older female offspring in the order of succession to the throne; and
2. The ban on spouses of Catholics ascending to the throne is to be abolished.
Neither decision is yet, in fact, law. That change requires an act of the British Parliament; but I think it is a fair bet that both changes will be made now that the Commonwealth Heads of Government all support the change.
When she visited Canberra last week the Queen was told that the changes were ''a sign that ancient institutions need not be anachronisms''. The changes will overturn 300 years of royal convention.
Can it be? Ohhhhh, my! The world is a-changin! Ahhh, Britannia, what am I to think?!?!? The next thing you know I will tune in to YouTube and find the Queen strumming a bass in a praise band in the Royal Chapel or Westminster or St. Pauls... What will this portend? Please.... someone.... hold me tight....

Having the Supreme Governor of the Church of England married to a Roman Catholic kind of sets a new standard for mixed marriages, huh?
OTOH nobody goes to church much in Mother England anyway.

Wasn't George II of Great Britain from Hanover? In that case, a Lutheran was head of the Church of England. That's plain goofy.
Well the current head of the House of Hannover married Caroline, Princess of Monaco, in a civil ceremony, her third marriage!
