I have long complained about Thrivent Financial for anyone with money. What began as a Lutheran fraternal (two forms Aid Association for Lutherans and Lutheran Brotherhood) has become a soulless entity in which Lutheran is merely a descriptor of its heritage and, like a rebellious child, is determined to push the boundaries of its freedom FROM its origins to the fullest degree possible.
Now, in addition to sending YOUR choice dollars to your Lutheran parish or a Lutheran mission or a Lutheran social service agency, you can send your Lutheran dollars to Planned Parenthood and ease the burdensome cost of abortions for those who find it onerous.
Isn't that special. I cannot wait for the Hemlock Society to get their choice dollar approval or the Man Boy Love Association or whatever other group someone wants to support... Now aren't we all glad that Thrivent has obtained the freedom to do as it pleases, unhindered by even the fear of impropriety and unchained from any semblance of Lutheran identity?
Yup, this is the dream and now we are living it. Do I hear a Te Deum out there? Hmmmm, probably not. More like a Miserere mei, Deus... at least that is the cry from this person...
