Now I that this is probably not a hot button issue among Lutherans (but that does not mean it shouldn't be). But, if you, like me, have ever faced a thurible with baked on resin, smoke, soot, and unnamed goo... well, take a gander....
If you are afraid of using harsh cleaner on a thurible, use a strong dose of laundry detergent in hot water and use gloves.Let the thurible soak for a long period and clean after soaking.

Well, I guess you need to bring back the office of Sexton for the dirty jobs. Maybe disposible aluminum thuribles would be the answer.
Here's a thought. Don't use it in the first place, then you will only have to dust it once a year or so.

First, like any good housewife, clean it after each use. Second, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser is great!
Line the fire pot with aluminum foil too.
