Still One of the Best Choir Anthems Ever...

At the evening Holy Thursday service (we also had one at 11 am), the choir closed the distribution with Mozart's wonderful anthem, Ave Verum Corpus.  Now I cannot vouch for the choir on this YouTube vid, but our choir was maaaaarvelous....  And what a fitting text to sing as the distribution closed, the reliquae were consumed, and just before Psalm 22 was chanted and the chancel emptied of its appointments...

Ave, verum corpus
natum de Maria Virgine,
Vere passum immolatum
in Cruce pro homine,
Cujus latus perforatum
unda* fluxit (et)* sanguine,
Esto nobis praegustatum
in mortis examine.

Hail,true body
born of the Virgin Mary,
Who truly suffered, sacrificed
on the Cross for man,
Whose pierced side overflowed
with water* and blood,
Be for us a foretaste**
In the test of death.

We're channelling again. We did too... at least our quartet sang it.
