Making the rounds. . . but it is worth seeing again

Good ole Luther is always up for a provocative quote to stir things up...

Funny, though, how hard it is in practicality.  We preachers want to be loved more than just about anything else.  So when we preach the Law we preach it with kid gloves.  I admit it.  I am guilty of the same.

God save us from ourselves (preachers) so that we can preach the whole counsel of God without apology.

Something to think about when you sit down to write out your Sunday medication meditation.

There are numerous internet sites, and books, like The Company of the Preachers (David L. Larsen, Kregel Publications, 1998, p. 157), which give the same quote, but do not reference an original source.

Is there a primary source available for the quote?

And when the flock learns to hate their sin, they will then love the shepherd.

What is the source of the Luther quote? Just want to confirm that he actually said/wrote this.
