35 Years ago. . . today!

At Golgotha Lutheran Church, rural Wausa, Nebraska, the Rev. Caryl Ritchey hosting Pastor, the Rev. Eldor Meyer ordaining, the Rev. Marion VonRentzell preaching, and assorted other clergy participating, the Rev. Larry A. Peters was ordained a minister of Christ's holy catholic church.... 34 years ago today!

It was as hot as h e double hockey sticks and a few of the participants were late and the Bishop was making his first trip ever to the parish but... God help us, we made it...  And it has been an exercise in unworthiness countered by the lavish grace of God that still rules the day (thanks be to God!).

And in six days I will be a part of the ordination and installation of our new Associate Pastor.  He will begin as I am watching the years pass by as I make it through the last quarter of my years of active ministry.  Strangely, I often feel just as uncertain and in awe of the pastoral office as Daniel must feel and I hope all those new and old ordained feel.  It is the surprise that God has called such unworthy people with so few real gifts and still has promised those who hear you, hear Me...  To those I have failed, I beg your forgiveness and to those whom I have touched with the Gospel in word or deed, it remains my own privilege!  Ahhh, a new chapter begins.  With men it is impossible but with God all things are possible. . .

Hearty congratulations on the anniversary of your holy ordination, pastor, and thanking the Holy Spirit for his gifts bestowed upon you.

As for failing anyone, you are only one among many, pastor or not. As for bringing the sweet Gospel to your hearers, bless you, and may God give you many more years and opportunities to minister His Word!
